Cellar concert with "5 grad" at the Hoffmann-Simon winery
“Singing must be fun!”
The five singers from 5grad agree on this.
And instruments? The five don't need them! Because they sing a cappella.
They are open to all places for singing. Whether it's a pub, private living room, registry office, marketplace, funeral hall, laundromat, attic, church, underpasses, wine cellar, and similar.
With pieces from pop, jazz, chanson, hit songs, and rock’n’roll, 5grad performs their program. They interpret pop jewels such as “Thank you for the music” by Abba, “Heart of glass” by Blondie, or straight rock classics like “Short People” by Randy Newman just as skillfully as Scandinavian folk tunes, couplets from the 1920s, madrigals from the Renaissance, and jazzed-up singer-songwriter interpretations like “Gute Nacht Freunde” by Reinhard Mey.
The ensemble 5grad has been around for 20 years after various lineup changes. The musicians met rather accidentally and were able to mix their different musical backgrounds fruitfully.
They are:
- Caro Schug-Otten - Soprano
- Barbara Poppinga - Mezzo-soprano
- Bärbel Maassen - Alto
- Andreas Steinmeyer - Tenor
- Andreas Ebert - Bass
