Piesport and wine, inextricably linked

Piesport is not only heavily influenced by viticulture, but with its 413 hectares of vineyards, it is also the largest wine-growing municipality on the Moselle.

Around 100 hectares of the total vineyard area are purely steep slopes, where Riesling is predominantly cultivated. Here, elegant, complex Riesling wines mature with the mineral mellowness typical of slate sites.

Introducing our wine queen

Dear guests and friends of Piesport,

as wine sovereigns of Piesport, we are delighted to introduce you to our beautiful wine-growing community.

Piesport lies in the heart of the Middle Moselle, nestled in one of the most beautiful river valleys in Europe and is not only the largest wine-growing community in the region, but also a place whose history goes back to Roman times. What the Romans once started, our winegrowers continue with great passion. You can learn about the origins of viticulture in Piesport in the Roman wine press, the largest facility north of the Alps. Our most famous vineyard Piesporter Goldtröpfchen stands for Rieslings that inspire people from all over the world. The mineral-rich slate soil, the steep slopes with perfect sunlight and the special microclimate of the Moselle loop produce wines that are prized for their unique aroma. Wine lovers are in the right place in Piesport. Our winegrowers cordially invite you to taste their wines directly on site - at a wine tasting, at wine farm festivals or at one of our many festivals. In addition to the individual wineries, I am also delighted with the commitment of our associations, which enthusiastically organize events that bring together wine, music, dance and community. The municipality also offers regular guided walks, wine tours and guided tours of the Roman wine press. You can find an overview of all the dates in the events calendar on our website.

But you can also experience a lot in Piesport outside of the events. Whether on a walk along the Moselle or a bike tour with a view of the beautiful Moselle valley, there is something for everyone here. We cordially invite you to discover Piesport for yourself - our wines, hospitality and events. We also look forward to welcoming you to one of our festivals.

With best regards,

Katharina I. with the wine princesses Madeleine and Pauline
