There is much to discover along this beautiful walk through the famous Wehlener Sonnenuhr vineyard - colourful wildflowers, bees and butterflies are a constant companion.

Discover the living world of the Moselle vineyards on a tour of the "Wehlener Sonnenuhr" vineyard. In cooperation with the winegrowers, a special insect diversity with butterflies, wild bees, wall lizards and many more develops here in the midst of the vineyards. The Insketenartweg is also an access route to the well-known Moselsteig.

Insights into the hiking tour:

In addition to great views of the Moselle valley, there is also a lot of fascinating information about nature. A total of 14 habitat stelae provide exciting information about the diverse flora and fauna of the vineyard. If you like, you can also call up the information via a QR code as an audio file on your mobile phone and listen to the stories (only in German). Numerous habitats for insects have been created along the path - there are life towers, insect hotels and flower meadows. Especially in the summer months the vineyard is a hive of activity and there are many animals to discover.

Directions

The hike starts near the old church in Wehlen and then takes you across the suspension bridge to the other side of the Moselle. The suspension bridge is the only one of its kind on the Moselle and was inaugurated in 1949. After arriving on the other side of the Moselle, you walk uphill along a small path into the vineyard. For the rest of the route, you will now hike in the middle of the vineyard past numerous insect hotels, life towers, information boards and flower vineyards. Again and again, exciting information about the animal and plant world awaits you. You can listen to the stories via the QR codes on the information pillars (only in German). Once you have reached the top of the vineyards, we recommend taking a break at the Wehlener Weinbergshütte. From up here you can enjoy a great view of the Moselle valley and the surrounding vineyards. From here you also have direct access to the well-known Moselsteig (stage 11) - which runs above the vineyards. Otherwise, you can now follow the circular route back to Wehlen.
